shape instance

Using this node you can assign object to particle shape as an instance. Any modifications of the shape instance are not permitted. Arnold render can fully utilize shape instances and reduce shape memory footprint.

[Inputs]

#Particle Stream - This pin requires a particle stream to be connected.

Enabled - Enable or disable node evaluation.

Objects - List of objects that you want to use as particle shape instances. If there are multiple objects in the list they will be randomly assigned to particles. Double click on object name to remove it from the list or use Remove button. You can select multiple objects.

#Object Index - By using the object index pin you can control which object will be applied as a shape to specific particle.

Change Material ID ??? Enable this option if you need to change face material IDs for the imported shape instance.

Material ID ??? In an object with multiple Material IDs, this will be the index of the first Material ID, with the others shifted accordingly. For clarification, consider the following scenario with a Multi Material setup: We have two plants???plant1 and plant2. The imported plant1 mesh has three mapping channels ranging from 1 to 3, while the imported plant2 mesh has two mapping channels ranging from 1 to 2.

Since we are importing both meshes into NodeWorks, where only one Multi Material is assigned, we need to shift the imported face Material IDs to retain their respective materials. For the first plant, plant1, we set the Material ID to 3, and the system will automatically shift the other Material IDs present in the mesh. Similarly, we shift the Material ID for plant2 so that it starts at 6.

Seed - Random number generator seed. Change this value to get different object distribution.
