FumeFX - Arnold Volume

The FumeFX - Arnold Volume is very similar in functionality to the Arnold Volume Object. It is actually an object that loads FumeFX caches and provides channel access to the Arnold's shader network. Integration within the FumeFX grid allows intuitive support of all the cache manipulation options.

FumeFX - Arnold Volume supports Draft Mode option from the FumeFX attribute editor which allows faster rendering of FumeFX grid at reduced resolution and lower memory consumption.

Smoke - Select this option if you are using smoke channel inside the Arnold Standard Volume material.

Channel - Arnold name: Smoke

Sharpen Strength - This is the sharpening strength of the smoke channel.

Sharpen Radius - The radius of the sharpen filter in voxels. Values below 1.0 could produce artifacts unless the Sharpen Strength value is lowered.

Fire/Fuel - Select this option if you are using fire or fuel channel inside the Arnold Standard Volume material.

Channel - Arnold name: Fire

Channel - Arnold name: Fuel

Sharpen Strength - This is the sharpening strength of the fire or fuel channel.

Sharpen Radius - The radius of the sharpen filter in voxels. Values below 1.0 could produce artifacts unless the Sharpen Strength value is lowered.

Temperature - Select this option if you are using temperature channel inside the Arnold Standard Volume material. This channel is most commonly used with Black - body shader.

Channel - Arnold name: Temperature

Sharpen Strength - This is the sharpening strength of the temperature channel.

Sharpen Radius - The radius of the sharpen filter in voxels. Values below 1.0 could produce artifacts unless the Sharpen Strength value is lowered.

Color - Select this option if you are using color channel inside the Arnold Standard Volume material.

Channel - Arnold name: Color

Velocity - Select this option if you are using velocity channel inside the Arnold Standard Volume material. When Motion Blur is enabled this channel will be loaded automatically.

Channel - Arnold name: Velocity

Note: FumeFX - Arnold volume does not have support for the GPU Viewport Display, so users will have to use Voxel Data Display to preview fluid motion.

How to use FumeFX - Arnold Volume.

  1. From the Maya Hypershader, create the Arnold's Standard Volume material and assign it to the FumeFX grid
  2. Name the Standard Volume Channels according to the FumeFX channel naming convention. Channel names are case sensitive
  3. Inside the FumeFX' Arnold Volume Shader select channels that you will be using.
